DNS Changes for Macintosh and Internet Explorer

Start Up your Macintosh and look for the Internet Explorer folder (note - your computer may have a version other than 4.5, but the instructions should be similar).

mac01.gif (112595 bytes)

Double-click on the folder for Internet Explorer (may be called Microsoft Internet).

mac02.gif (9363 bytes)

Double-click on the Internet Connection Wizard folder.

mac03.gif (4489 bytes)

Double-click on the Internet Setup folder.

mac04.gif (5994 bytes)

Double-click on the DUN Files folder.

mac05.gif (3736 bytes)

Double-click on dialup1.dun.

mac06.gif (8851 bytes)

Near the bottom of the page, there are 2 lines for DNS settings.  They should be:

DNS_Address=216.162.1.1
DNS_Alt_Address=216.162.1.2

If these numbers match, close all windows.  You do not need to change anything.

If they do not match, delete the numbers listed and type in the ones shown above.   Save your changes and exit.

You will need to restart your Macintosh for the changes to take effect.
